Polyclinics reduce choice increase cost says expert

New NHS computer says: "Fuck off Darzi!"

Nice to see the boffins agreeing with Dr Rant:

Professor Roland, who carried out an analysis of 30 demonstration sites that are being used to pave the way for the changes, said he had serious concerns.

He said the current model of GP practices provided more choice and better access than polyclinics.

He believes that while standards could vary widely, overall they were judged to provide better care than polyclinics.

Not that this will matter one jot to the government. After all, they already know this. They just don't want Joe Public to know.

the A&E Charge Nurse said...

Very soon, I anticipate a conversation that will go something like this;
Charge nurse how long have you been working in A&E ?
And you are an ENP as well........good, good.

Now, have you heard about these new polyclinics, fanatastic opportunities for nurses you know.

Oh yes, the CEO and PCT think they are absolutely brilliant, and since A&E is being, aherm, cough, 'reconfigured' it might be wise if you were to make the most of an exciting job offer - we also need someone to cover dermatology out-patients, interested ?

My local PCT wants to build a polyclinic. It wants to tear down a fifteen-year old building and put other activities in the new building, including a gym and community activities, despite a long-running campaign by local people to save a Victorian building a few yards away and have it used partly as a community centre and gym. This is change for the sake of change, not for the benefit of the people who will pay for it through their taxes.

Be reasonable.

The Rev Tony's acolytes don't need evidence, gud has spoken to them and they KNOW the truth. If the facts are in conflict the facts are wrong, so what, they can be changed.

Follow the money?

Unfortunately, when you try to read the original article on the British Medical Association's journal's website ..,

a) the frontpage link is wrong.

b) you have to have a subscription to read the full paper.

So me Joe Public can't read it

Can Doctors cope with IT?
