Polyclinics? Oligoclinics more like!
Has any one else noticed the distinct lack of mention of the fabled 'polyclincs' in Lord Darzi's report? We have. Back-tracking? Surely not!
Anyway, apologies for the distinct lack of action on here recently. That's the problem with the summer - the Dr Rant Team are either on holiday, or they're having to work twice as hard because half their colleagues are!
The fact that fewer people get ill in the summer, doesn't seem to translate into reduced demand for GP appointments or home visits. Funny that isn't it?
I'm bloody knackered. The Darzi report will have to wait.
Here's another photoshop to be getting on with.......

have a look around some foreign hospitals and GP clinics while you are abroad on your hols, ask a few questions about how long it takes to see a GP or have an op
reflect on how shit the nhs is then come back all humbled by how good the rest of the world is compared to the shit you defend here
it was very quiet around here during the election and while you were at the African conference Rugabe.
Fantastic. Dumb and Dumber - 'no one' and 'niku' are back! Always good for a laugh. The least talented double act since Cannon and Ball retired. It must be time for you to fuck off on your hols (or is it the labour conference that gets you excited?). Have nice conference boys - btw IP address tracking is a great thing. Feeling uncomfortable?
doctor
for what its worth... I have corresponded occasionally with some of the leading medic bloggers openly with my own name and contact details, so its hardly top secret
i know more about computer science than you do about medicine, it would be trivial in the extreme to spoof my IP and adopt other simple techniques, I dont bother cos I'm not that bothered
so no I dont feel uncomfortable, unless you are prediciting the state decides that I will be found with slit wrists in an empty field one day and a lot of bollocks about suicide? i dont think i have upset MI5 that much
i think you will find that its you and the rants who are hiding
and really you should listen to some of the patients views in the blog o sphere cos you dont appear to understand how crap the nhs is from a patient perspective

'No one'.
The level of the bitterness you feel towards the NHS and it's staff leads me to conclude that something significant and major has happened to you - I mean something more than the 'can't get an appointment, GP wouldn't give me antibiotics etc' disappointments. I'm not asking you to name yourself, but what has made you so bitter and twisted? There has to be a MAJOR trigger for this. Why don't you share what happened? Hell, we may even learn something as healthcare providers!
doctor
i wouldnt say its one big trigger
its the constant drip drip drip of poor service when i have been in need, and more importantly when i have seen those i care about let down
and the evil responses from what is laughably called a complaints process
also i know a few people in your business, and i think the difference between their off the record comments to me in the pub, and the public face of medicine a la rant and crippen etc needs to be exposed
and i have listed many although not all by any means of the issues i have seen first hand, often to a barrage of medics telling me its not true it never happens in the uk, well guess what when you know about it first hand and you are being told the earth is flat by a priesthood my reaction is to comment back
especially when loved ones are let down continually
you know if you medics continue your line of falsehoods people like me will just start carrying small video cameras and stick the footage on youtube, see how long you can deny it then
