Scotch is an adjective - so Scotch Mist, Scotch Whisky or Scotch egg are all ok. Scotch on its own, by common useage refers to the Whisky, although it is useage which is rare in Scotland. Although in theory one could describe someone as a Scotch person, this is not common useage - hence either 'a Scot' or 'Scottish' are the correct terms.

Referring to someone as Scotch is not offensive, just ignorant.

FWIW I suspect part of Alex Salmond's plan is to annoy the English enough that they demand their independence (see recent remarks about the house of commons dancing to a Scottish jig).

None of this is relevant to the story - Des Browne is a C*** in any nation and any capacity.

We're talking about Scottish here. And in Scottish, Scotch is a drink.

Scotch mist is blurred vision after drinking too much Scotch.

Of course if you want to piss off the Scots then carry on, but bear in mind they have a nationalist government in power that wants independence.

The man's a 'hole of the highest order and his inability to fight the political battles required to defend the military (requiring instead that the Chief of the General Staff do it on the steps of MoD instead) just shows what an ineffectual twit the man is.

His willingness to suck on the public teat by holding two ministerial offices at once (Defence and Scotland) proves once and for all the key to the ZanuLab policy strategy: provide inadequate cover (cf, NHS and "nurse specialists") and then, when it does come crashing down around you, blame the legacy.
