I can choose to avoid BA. I had no money in Enron, Northern Rock or Bear Sterns (because I have little money) but there are many alternatives. However in London I can't avoid BAA but then that's because it's er, a monopoly. This is not to support privatisation, just to try to get the logic right. It did rise a smile though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28089527.post-7595526504976087412008-04-01T00:13:00.000+01:002008-04-01T00:13:00.000+01:002008-04-01T00:13:00.000+01:00Anonymous - giving the patients the money is anoth...Anonymous - giving the patients the money is another way of putting a limit on how much care someone can have. "Sorry, you've run out of money in your budget. You'll have to wait until the next financial year for more insulin" or "Sorry, you've run out of money in your budget so you can't have any more dressings changed and you'll have to wait for more pain relief in the next financial period."<BR/><BR/>Think it won't happen? I remember what it was like for a diabetic relative of mine when glucose testing strips were subject to an arbitrary limit. We have plenty of rationing already, and this is just another way of doing it.<BR/><BR/>But of course, it sounds great if you assume the budget will be big enough. I'm simply cynical enough to suppose it's another excuse to cut corners.Nuttynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28089527.post-62899437474626005382008-03-31T23:14:00.000+01:002008-03-31T23:14:00.000+01:002008-03-31T23:14:00.000+01:00Isn't this new 'giving patients the money' part of...Isn't this new 'giving patients the money' part of the privatisation?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28089527.post-26806992349692521962008-03-31T21:57:00.000+01:002008-03-31T21:57:00.000+01:002008-03-31T21:57:00.000+01:00Yes, I thought of that too.
