I met Dr Smith once, and he was a charming pleasant and thoughtful man.

I was utterly gobsmacked when he left the BMJ and joined UHE. I presumed he was too embarrassed about becoming a hired hack to raised his head above the parapet.

I felt utterly let down by his decision, which he can (and probably does) intellectually justify to himself.

Richard Smith was holier than thou about people declaring conflicts of interest.

He seems not to apply to himself the standards that he does to others.

This is hypocrisy.

Oh well we can always Deny, Delay, Diminish and Blame as we pointed out this Autumn.

Jumped ship from the dumbed-down British Medical Journal into a gold filled-trough at United Wealth. In my opinion, he is a turncoat scumbag and I wonder if his brother still speaks to him.
